Care Is Central
In October 2019 Central Bedfordshire Council Executive approved the creation of a company, wholly owned by the Council, to deliver care services and, in June 2020, the Council set up Care Is Central as part of The Central Bedfordshire Group. The company is now registered with the Care and Quality Commission and operational.
The reasons for the Council creating Care is Central are to:
-
maintain access to good quality social care provision for the people of Central Bedfordshire at a reasonable cost
-
enable more care services to be delivered in ways that give the people who use them choice and control
-
facilitate the delivery of new care homes and other types of care services for older people, when and where they are most needed
-
help transform accommodation-based care and support for adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health conditions and autism and autistic spectrum disorder
-
give the Council additional options to be able to intervene in the care market should a failure occur.
