Terms and conditions for parking permits

Parking permit terms and conditions

Employee, business and market trader permits

Business or employee permits are available to any owner or employee of a business without off-street parking for their vehicle.

Businesses operating from residential premises i.e. with no specific planning permission, are not eligible for these types of permit.

Market trader permits are available to any market trader in Dunstable or Leighton Buzzard charter market. Permits are only issued and valid with your trader's licence.

You must inform us immediately if you cease to be an employee.

Vehicles must not exceed the overall height of the specific car park you are applying for.

Permits are valid in designated permit bays. You may park in normal bays, but only if there are no permit bays available.

Your permit will cover the car park you have applied for only; if there are no available parking spaces, it does not allow you to park in any other car park or on other restrictions for example double or single yellow lines.

A permit does not guarantee a parking space.

We will only issue a permit where all the required evidence has been supplied.

Once a permit has been issued, there will be no refund.

Applications without the necessary proof of eligibility will be returned to the applicant without being processed.

We reserve the right to enforce the following restrictions on permits issued:

  • town centre car parks: the business premises must be in central Dunstable or central Leighton Buzzard
  • Westfield Road car park, Dunstable: the business must be located in High Street North, Westfield Road or Tavistock Street
  • West Street car park, Dunstable: the business must be located in West Street
  • New Road car park, Linslade: the business must be located in Old Road, New Road or Wing Road, Linslade
  • Baker Street car park: the business must be located in North Street, Baker Street or Church Street

You may be asked to provide additional proof of eligibility if necessary.

Any permit we issue for the vehicle (and any subsequent issue of a permit) is conditional upon you surrendering the permit to us, should you:

  • cease to be an employee, business or market trader
  • cease to own the vehicle or be the user of the vehicle by consent of the registered keeper
  • receive a duplicate permit under the necessary provision

Renewals

Responsibility rests with the permit holder for renewing a permit.

A renewal application can be processed up to 3 weeks before the expiry date.

If any proof documents are out of date, or incorrect you will be notified to update these immediately (if you do not meet the requirements, your permit may be cancelled and you will still be charged).

Once a permit has expired it cannot be renewed and a new application must be processed.
