Health benefits of walking and wheeling
Why walk and wheel?
It is recommended that adults should aim to do 30 minutes of exercise 5 times a week. Walking or wheeling regularly is a great way to do this and can be a part of your daily routine. It also brings a range of health and wellbeing benefits, including:
- lowering the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes
- stronger bones
- a strengthened immune system
- better weight management
- increased energy levels
- enhanced self-esteem
- better sleep
Walking and wheeling are most suitable for journeys under 2 miles and can be combined with other forms of travel to cover longer distances.
