Consultation on new secondary school in Houghton Regis

Consultation on the design for a new secondary school in Houghton Regis

Consultation closed: Midday on Friday 14 August 2020

The initial designs have been produced for the new 1,120 place secondary school, to be built on the Kingsland Campus for September 2022. The proposal includes all the specialist and non-specialist teaching space required, as well as providing a sports hall, outdoor sports provision and car parking. The external appearance of the school buildings is subject to further design work.

We are currently at the pre-planning design stage, and we are taking the opportunity to seek the views of the local community ahead of the planning application being submitted. The date for submission of the planning application has been tentatively set for the end of August 2020.

This consultation is an important part of the process, and your comments could help refine the design work which has already been undertaken. It is an opportunity to review the initial concept and for us to hear your comments.

The pre-planning consultation would usually take the form of a public consultation drop-in event; however, under the current COVID-19 circumstances, we are providing the information online. As we are unable to hold a single public event, we will be accepting comments during a 2-week period from 31 July 2020 until midday, 14 August 2020.

We would like to know any general comments you have regarding the initial concept for the new school. You should be aware that any comments you make during this stage are for our use in developing the proposal. It is not the same as making a formal comment on the planning application and you will have the opportunity to do this if you wish, once we submit the planning application.
