Environmental Permit and Substantial Permit Variations Application Consultation – Saint-Gobain Weber, Flitwick

Consultation closed: Friday 19 January 2024
Consultation opened: Tuesday 19 December 2024

All industrial processes have the potential to release pollution to land, water and air, as well as damaging the environment. This pollution can pose a risk to human health.

To minimise and manage potential environmental impacts from industry, certain processes are regulated under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016. Businesses may need to be regulated due to what they do, or because they operate above a certain threshold.

The permit ensures that the operators meet set targets for emissions, monitoring, etc.

Under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Permitting Regulations 2016 we are legally obliged consult the public on applications for permits and applications to vary permits, etc. (public consultations are not required where the application involves dry cleaners, petrol stations or mobile plant processes).

As part of our obligation, we involve the public in the process of assessing these permit applications. Typically, this involves posting a public notice near the relevant property and notifying through our website's consultation page.

All issued permits are included in a publicly accessible register. Find out more about permits and search the register.

For any input or comments, contact us by emailing pollution@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk. Please provide the permit number, site address, details of the application process, and specify that it's in response to a public consultation.
