During a previous consultation on removing the site from educational use in 2021, lots of comments were received about potential future uses of the site. Sandy Town Council has also recently developed a Neighbourhood Plan which included ideas for the site. The suggestions considered below include consultation comments received, as well as work undertaken by Sandy Town Council in the development of its Neighborhood plan.
In addition to providing a new residential care home the facility could also include other community facilities that residents have previously suggested the site could be used for, such as community space the youth club and others can use, and café facilities open to the public. This would support the public’s desire for the site to remain a focal point for the whole community of Sandy.
