Meet Elizabeth: ASYE social worker – discover your career in social care
To be honest, I had some reservations about doing my ASYE and even looked into what other councils were offering. However, CBC stood out with the best support, and this proved to be true.
From the start, I had meaningful conversations with the ASYE coordinator and team. They provided me with options across different services, along with a detailed list of the work each team does. I was even able to shadow a team for a few hours to help decide if it was the right fit for my ASYE year.
I received a clear timetable for the year, and my supervisions were consistent throughout. I was also given the opportunity to attend relevant training courses and shadow various teams and services on my ASYE days, which significantly enhanced my learning.
The Adult Social Care team has been incredibly supportive. Even with hybrid working in place, my team members made the effort to meet with me in the office, allowing me to gain valuable observational knowledge. As someone who learns best by observing, I appreciated the numerous opportunities I had to watch my colleagues in action.
I highly recommend CBC’s ASYE program. It’s a fantastic way to learn, gain hands-on experience, and receive dedicated support throughout your journey. What are you waiting for? Just go for it!
