Central Bedfordshire Council statutory building safety compliance status

The table below provides an overview of how Central Bedfordshire Council meets its legal obligations in relation to the six statutory health and safety compliance areas (commonly referred to as the ‘Big 6’).

The compliance status shown reflects the position as at 1 April 2026. This information will be updated monthly by the seventh working day of the following month and published on this website.

The table outlines each workstream, showing the percentage of properties that are compliant and the number of properties that remain non-compliant within the reporting month.

Being recorded as non-compliant does not mean that a property presents an immediate risk. In most cases, non-compliance indicates that a required test or inspection has not yet been carried out, rather than an identified hazard to the resident or the property.

Gas and electrical safety non-compliance is typically due to access issues, such as when a specialist contractor attends a pre-arranged appointment and is unable to gain access to the property.

We would like to remind all customers of the importance of allowing these essential safety checks to be completed, as they help identify and mitigate any potential risks. If you miss an appointment or are no longer available for a scheduled visit, please contact us as soon as possible to rearrange your appointment.
