What to do if you are worried about your child getting suspended or excluded
When there is a threat of suspension or exclusion, it is important to work with your child’s school to understand what difficulties they are experiencing and what support can be put in place.
You should always get the Designated Teacher involved at this point, as they are responsible for promoting the educational needs of all children previously looked after and will help to ensure that the school views any difficult/dangerous behaviours your child may be displaying through a trauma-informed lens.
SENCO’s can also advise about assessments that can find out if your child has any unidentified SEND and suitable interventions that can support the child going forward.
You can also get advice from us at any point – just complete the ‘Request for Virtual School Advice’ form.
