From 3 September 2025 to 14 October 2025 we consulted on our first-ever Waste Strategy which is a 25-year plan, to be reviewed every 5 years, which sets out how we’ll manage waste and recycling more sustainably from 2026 to 2051 in line with national legislation and environmental targets.
The consultation results (PDF) are summarised in the Executive report and are available on our website as part of the Executive Committee papers. Respondents to the consultation were mostly supportive of Central Bedfordshire Council’s first Waste Strategy’s objectives and the actions we had identified.
The Executive made a decision on 6 January 2026 to approve the Waste Strategy 2026 to 2051.
