Outcomes – SEND Strategy consultation 2025
Consultation closes: 1 October 2025
Consultation opened: 10 July 2025
We have worked with young people in Central Bedfordshire to identify the things that matter most in their day-to-day lives. These are the things that children and young people with SEND should experience if they’re getting the right support.
The 5 key outcomes are based on a national model but have been adapted to reflect what local children, young people, and families told us is important. They are:
- safety: children and young people with SEND will feel and be safe in all areas of their lives
- health and wellbeing: children and young people with SEND have healthy outcomes and feel valued, with a sense of belonging
- aspirations: children and young people with SEND will learn and develop their confidence to reach their full potential
- independence: children and young people with SEND will have opportunities to maximise their independence
- involvement: children and young people with SEND will have access to their community and have opportunities to influence the services that support them
These 5 things will be used to track our progress and check whether the work of our strategy is making a real difference. We’ll use data and personal stories to understand where things are working well and where we need to improve, and we’ll publish updates twice a year.
