In April 2025, we approved a public consultation on proposals for major investment in Ivel Valley School aimed at meeting the increasing demand for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) places, bringing us closer to ensuring local children with additional needs receive the education they deserve.
Our preferred option for Ivel Valley School, subject to consultation and further consideration by Executive, is being proposed with the objective of providing a significantly improved learning environment, with new purpose-built teaching spaces and a comprehensive refurbishment of the current school building.
We want you to have your say so we will be launching a public consultation in September 2025. When that happens, we will share more details on this webpage on a range of options that have been considered and the criteria for assessing the options. At this stage, no final decisions have been made, and the outcome of the consultation will be an essential part of shaping the way forward.
We appreciate you may have several questions about the project, including about specific design or implementation details, which we will aim to address within the consultation.
By doing this we will ensure that you and other families, school staff, governors and the wider community can provide your views and help shape the consultation and decision-making process. This includes how the options can best meet the needs of pupils, including considerations such as minimising any potential disruption for the young people at the school.
We appreciate your continued interest and look forward to launching the consultation so that we can hear your views and deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people at Ivel Valley School.
In the meantime, you can watch the webcast of the Executive Committee meeting in April where we last discussed the project, here.
You can also read the press release issued afterwards about the decision that was reached.
Going forwards, we will also publicise the consultation on our social media channels (Facebook, X and Instagram) so please follow us on your preferred platform. Alternatively, you can sign up to receive our free consultation emails, here, so that you can have the latest information sent straight to your inbox.
