Bulky waste collection
Could your item be re-used?
Before considering a bulky waste collection, consider if your item could be re-used, or passed on to a local charity organisation, such as:
- Emmaus - just because you no longer need an item, don’t throw it away. By donating it to Emmaus you’re not only keeping it out of landfill, but you’re also making sure it goes to a new home while also doing something to help others.
- Preen - a local enterprise that helps local people find pre-loved and low-priced furniture, appliances, and household goods.
- Freegle - an online re-use group for local people to give items away and get things for free.
- LoveJunk - Find a new home for your pre-loved items with LoveJunk. Get free collection from re-users or receive quotes from local, licensed waste carriers to dispose of items responsibly.
Social media
There are also a number of local groups on social media where you can offer to give away items. Try searching on Facebook for groups in your area.
Can you take your item to a Household Waste Recycling Centre (Tidy tip)?
We charge for bulky waste collections, so if your items are unsuitable for re-use, you can take them to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre (Tidy tip) for disposal.
Bulky waste collection for up to 12 items
If the options above don't suit, we can collect up to 12 larger household items (e.g., beds, wardrobes, washing machines, TVs, tables, and one fridge/freezer).
Furniture that has more than one piece, e.g., a divan base, mattress, and headboard, is counted as 3 items.
Cost of a bulky waste collection
It costs £68.40 (£34.50 concessionary fee if you claim Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support).
You can check a full list of what we can and cannot collect, including information about hazardous waste before booking this service.
