Place Academy - Historic Environment (Conservation) Trainee

Historic Environment (Conservation) Trainee

Launched this year we have a new role within the Academy for a Historic Environment Trainee. As part of the role you will be involved in providing comments on planning applications that involve the Historic Environment particularly those around Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas.

The Central Bedfordshire area has over 60 Conservation Areas and more than 1,900 Listed Buildings. Our Conservation Officers are kept busy working across the Authority to help preserve and protect both designated and non-designated heritage assets.

You will gain experience whilst studying your fully funded Level 4 Historic Environment Advice apprenticeship (link to course: Courses > Historic Environment Advice Assistant (Higher Apprenticeship) | Strode College (strode-college.ac.uk) and you will be supported to progress your professional membership of Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) (link to IHBC webpage: The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (ihbc.org.uk)

A bespoke training programme will be provided alongside key milestones that you will be expected to achieve.

You will also have the opportunity to undertake placements in other areas such as the Historic Environment Record, Archaeology, Planning, and other Technical Skills.
