Assessments
As a young carer, or parent of a young carer, if you feel an assessment is needed to consider any additional needs around their caring role, please contact us on 0300 300 8585.
Your assessment helps us understand what being a young carer is like for you, and what help you might need to reduce any challenges you face. The assessment will be completed with you, your family, and any other people who support you. As part of the assessment, a plan is completed to help meet your needs as a young carer.
Your request for an assessment will be looked at by our Access and Referral team. The team will decide who is best to complete your assessment. This will either be a family partner or a social worker, depending on the level of caring role and impact to the child.
This helps us to co-produce a plan of support with families that is tailored to the needs of each individual child and may include wellbeing support.
What will the assessment look at?
The assessment will look at other parts of your life like your education, wellbeing, and seeing friends. The assessment considers your role as a young carer and what caring responsibilities you have, and both the positive and negative outcomes of caring.
