Independent visitors

Support a child or young person in care: become an independent visitor

A few hours a month could make a lifelong impact.

Could you be an independent visitor? We’re looking for people to befriend and support a child or young person in care, giving them a sense of security and helping to build their confidence.

You would:

  • visit your matched young person once a month
  • enjoy fun, low-cost activities together like walks, bowling, or lunch
  • be someone they can rely on, talk to, and enjoy spending time with

Full training will be provided and expenses will be covered.

We’ll support you throughout your time as an independent visitor.

I have been an independent visitor for almost 5 years and supporting a young person on their journey has been an absolute joy!

An independent visitor

I feel safe with my independent visitor. I struggle with social anxiety, but my independent visitor has really helped me with my confidence going out.
