About Central Bedfordshire

Communications

Central Bedfordshire is an ambitious authority, determined to be an exemplary one. Our strategic location and high quality of life mean we are one of the fastest-growing areas in the country.

As a council, we face the same challenges every business does - investing in the right places and delivering great results. Except for us, it’s all about our 289,000 residents. We’re totally focused on helping to improve their lives and making Central Bedfordshire a great place to live and work.

We have set values and principles to represent the way we work and how we operate as an organisation.

The Communications, Insight and Engagement team provide both internal and external communications support to the council. We promote and explain our services and we consult and engage on changes to services, many of which are sensitive and complex.

Some key stats about our organisation and the role:

  • we employ over 2,800 people
  • you'll manage a team of two Communications Officers
  • we handle over 250 media enquiries a year
  • we've over 70K followers on social media
  • you'll get a minimum of 25 days leave a year

Featured job - Communications Business Partner

We are looking for a communications professional to join our Communications, Insight and Engagement team to provide both internal and external communications support to the council.

The role will support Children’s Services and Adult Social Care, Health and Housing teams with all their communication needs. As Business Partner, you will be the key interface between these services and the team, you’ll understand their priorities, negotiate and agree the work plan and provide strategic advice and support, particularly on high profile projects or issues.

We know Central Bedfordshire is a great place to live and work. But these days with hybrid working, you don't necessarily need to live in Bedfordshire. You have the option to work from home and access any of our offices. You will be expected to come into work once a month and as needed to carry out the role.

What does the recruiting manager say about this role?

Some One, Head of Service

No two days are the same in the team, which keeps the whole team highly motivated. We have a stong, experienced group mixed in with a blend of youth which keeps are ideas and comms fresh. Having been here since day one, I can't think of a better place to work.
