We would like CBC to assess Clifton Rd, Henlow with a traffic survey to identify if we can have double yellow lines around 20m from the roundabout due to unsafe road parking causing sight loss and also wooden bollards to stop verge parking, again causing sight loss on a very busy roundabout.
Supporting details
Councillor Drew Richardson is calling on CBC to install double yellow lines and protective bollards along Clifton Road (near the roundabout) to stop unsafe verge and pavement parking.
Vehicles parking on grass verges and footpaths are creating serious safety concerns for pedestrians, wheelchair users, parents with pushchairs, cyclists, and local residents. Obstructed pavements force people into the road, increasing the risk of accidents and making the area less accessible for everyone.
Verge parking is also causing ongoing damage to public green spaces, creating mud, erosion, and costly maintenance issues. Emergency vehicle access and visibility for drivers are also being negatively affected.
The introduction of double yellow lines and strategically placed bollards would:
- improve pedestrian safety
- protect grass verges and pavements from damage
- improve visibility and road safety
- ensure access for disabled residents and families
- discourage inconsiderate and dangerous parking
We urge the council to take action before a serious accident occurs and to make the area safer and more accessible for all residents.
