Install a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Steppingley Road and Manor Way to improve safety for pedestrians.
Supporting details
The junction of Steppingley Road and Manor Way currently has no pedestrian crossing or road signage to protect people crossing. Vehicles turning from Steppingley Road frequently fail to stop even when pedestrians are already on the road, creating a serious safety hazard.
This location is regularly used by residents, families with children, and older people, and the lack of a safe crossing point increases the risk of accidents.
We therefore request the council to install a designated pedestrian crossing at this junction. Doing so will:
- improve safety for pedestrians and reduce the likelihood of collisions
- provide a safer walking route for children and families in the area
- support active travel by encouraging walking instead of driving
