Adult social care provider job vacancies - Personal Care Assistant, IK Care

Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Care Assistant to join IXZ’s care team. IXZ is a 16-year-old with quadriplegic athetoid cerebral palsy who requires full support with daily living and medical needs. This role is focused on enabling IXZ to live a fulfilled and meaningful life — supporting her not only at home but also in the community and during activities. The ideal candidate will be reliable, empathetic, and committed to providing high-quality, person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide personal care, including washing, dressing, and toileting.
• Support with safe moving and handling, including use of hoists and other equipment.
• Administer tube feeding and assist with medication (training provided if required).
• Support IXZ in attending activities at home and in the community.
• Communicate effectively with IXZ using her preferred methods of interaction.
• Work as part of a small care team to ensure continuity and high standards of care.
• Maintain accurate records as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience in care or support work (desirable, but not essential — full training provided).
• Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, complex physical disabilities.
• Ability to carry out safe moving and handling (training provided).
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and patience in supporting a non-verbal young person.
• Compassionate, respectful, and committed to person-centred care.
• Enhanced DBS check required (can be arranged if not already in place).

Working Hours and Conditions:

• Flexible shifts available, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and waking nights.
• Part-time and full-time hours considered.
• Work takes place in IXZ’s family home and in the local community.
• All necessary training provided.
• Supportive working environment as part of a small, consistent care team.
