Sandy parish has a town council. It is warded and has 15 seats on the council. The planned forecast development to March 2030 is estimated at a further 69 dwellings which will generate an additional 117 electors over the next 5 years.

The parish boundary adjoins the neighbouring parishes of Biggleswade, Blunham, Everton, Moggerhanger, Northill, Potton, Sutton and Tempsford. The parish, together with the parish of Blunham are coterminous (i.e. they border each other in the same area) within the Central Bedfordshire ward of Sandy.

As can be seen from the tables above, there have been no contested elections in the Beeston ward, only one in 2011 in the Fallowfield ward, two in the Ivel ward in 2011 and 2019, and none in the Pinnacle ward. Where there have been insufficient candidates throughout the period, the vacant seats were authorised to be filled by co-option.
