Harlington parish has a parish council. It is unwarded and has 12 seats on the council. The forecast planned development to March 2030 is estimated at a further 376 dwellings which will generate approximately an additional 639 residents over the next 5 years.

The parish boundary adjoins the neighbouring parishes of Streatley, Sundon, Toddington and Westoning. The parish, together with the parishes of Chalton, Streatley, Sundon and Toddington are coterminous within the district ward of Barton-le-Clay and Silsoe.
