I am writing on behalf of the residents of Ivel Road to kindly request the installation of a residential parking permit sign to address the ongoing issue of non-residents occupying parking spaces.
Currently, train commuters, school visitors, church function attendees, and High Street shoppers frequently park along Ivel Road, Sandy making it difficult for residents to find parking near their homes. This situation disrupts the convenience and peace of our residential area, causing significant frustration among residents.
To alleviate this issue, we respectfully request the implementation of a designated residential parking permit system, accompanied by clear signage to prioritize parking for residents. We believe this measure will effectively discourage non-residents from using our street for long-term parking and help maintain the residential character of our community.
We are looking to maintain the integrity of our neighborhood.
Supporting details
Ivel Road is a narrow, traditional street with a primary school and a busy fire station. Due to the shortage of space, many homes do not have the luxury of a driveway, leaving residents dependent on street parking. With over 50 homes and numerous residents, the road is highly congested, and parking availability is already limited. To alleviate this issue, we respectfully request the implementation of a designated residential parking permit system, accompanied by clear signage to prioritize parking for residents. We believe that introducing a restriction for a few hours during peak times would effectively deter non-residents from long-term parking while minimizing inconvenience for genuine visitors.
Our goal is to preserve the residential character of Ivel Road while ensuring that residents can park reasonably close to their homes. We appreciate your understanding and support in maintaining the integrity of our neighborhood. Please let us know the next steps or if further information is needed to move forward with this request.Additionally, inappropriate parking on the street often leads to accidents, blockages, and safety risks for the primary school children walking in the area. Instances have occurred where parked vehicles have obstructed the exit of fire brigade trucks, posing a severe threat to public safety.
