e-petitions - Install Two Pedestrian Crossings in Sandy for Safer Streets

As a resident witnessing the adverse impacts of speed, I am deeply concerned for the safety of our community in Sandy. Everyday, drivers emerge from the A1, often maintaining high speeds as they come into our town. The result has been grievous. Numerous pet cats have become unfortunate victims, hit and killed due to the lack of proper pedestrian crossing facilities.

However, this issue extends beyond our beloved pets. My fear is that our children could be the next victims. There is a local school in close proximity to the problematic area, subjecting our children - our future - to alarming risks each day.

Supporting details

A study by the UK Department of Transportation indicates that pedestrian crossings can reduce accidents by up to 47% (source: Department of Transportation, UK). This is not just about providing a walkway, it's about securing lives. The implementation of two pedestrian crossings would greatly help in moderating the speed of vehicles and could significantly reduce the risk of accidents.

Based on these risks and statistical backing, it is critical that local authorities take prompt action to safeguard the pedestrians of Sandy. I beseech you to join this call to protect our community and in particular, our children's future. Please sign this petition to install two pedestrian crossings in on Sunderland Road, Sandy.
