From 13 November to 18 December 2025, route 42 will not be able to serve Harlington due to a road closure on Toddington Road. Shuttle route 42X will run Flitwick – Westoning – Harlington – Toddington, with connections to / from route 42 at Westoning or Flitwick for journeys to / from Bedford. Some journeys will connect at Toddington for journeys to / from Dunstable.
From 17 to 21 November and from 24 to 28 November 2025, Bedford Road, Houghton Regis will be closed between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm each day. Route 42 will not serve stops between Houghton Road / Northfields and Dunstablians Rugby Club and will run direct via High Street North, Watling Street and Dunstable Northern by-pass.
