e-petitions - No to excessive rise in Permit Parking Charges

Reduce the Parking Permit Cost per year with only a 2 % rise and not the 300% rise.

In the following areas of Ampthill: Brewery Lane, Chapel Lane, Park Hill, Park Street & Swaffield Close (all)

Supporting details:

The latest Parking Permits have increased from £10 a year for a single vehicle to £30 a year, this may not seem a lot in the grand scheme of things but this is a 300% rise! More than the average inflation which is 2%.

From The Central Bedfordshire Council Website: The first permit will cost £30, and the second permit will cost £90 and the third permit will cost £120.00.

The reasons on the Central Beds website are "Costs include legal fees to implement schemes, provision and maintenance of lines and signage in zones, permit administration including software, and zone enforcement." Are not good enough reasons.

Only increase with inflation of 2%.

Ampthill is not the only area for these increases; Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Arlesey & Flitwick so the money is going to Central Bedfordshire in we believe is excessive.
