e-petitions - New Road Crossings and Average Speed Cameras in Cranfield to encourage vehicles to drive within the speed limit

Parents / residents / cyclists request Central Bedfordshire Council to consider installing average speed cameras along the High Street plus add new road crossings to allow parents, pupils, pedestrians and cyclists to travel to school safely.

Vehicles are travelling much faster and electric vehicles are much quieter.

When schools move to 2-tier system there will be more children on the road, and pavements will become busy and overcrowded. New crossings requested:

  • In the High Street between Morrisons and Flitt Leys Close for children attending St. Pauls School
  • Remove road crossing outside the Cross Keys pub
  • New crossing where the current island is on the High Street just past Lincroft for children attending HolyWell School
  • New xrossing at the Mill Road/ Crane Way/ Crawley Road junction
  • Improve the flow of vehicles entering/exiting Court Road to allow children crossing at the St. Peters school site outside the church
  • Improve the 2-way traffic flow along the High Street. There are several points which hold up the flow of traffic

A solution needs to be found to improve journey times.

Thank you.
