A to Z of recycling - Butter tubs

Description

Tubs and trays are made of plastic and are widely recycled. Clean butter tubs can be placed loose in your dry recycling (green/orange lidded) bin at home.
Consider if tubs or trays could be reused. Plastic tubs make great plant pots or small storage containers.

Tips for recycling plastic tubs and trays:

  • place loose in your recycling bin
  • rinse -  to be recycled, plastic tubs and trays must be clean. Leftover food and liquid can end up ruining your recycling
  • ensure any plastic film or absorbent layers are removed and put in your black household waste bin before recycling plastic tubs and trays. Foil layers should be removed, rinsed, and scrunched together with other foil to the size of a tennis ball to be recycled.
