Recycling pause

Dry recycling collections are temporarily paused

Last updated: 17 March 2026, 2.30pm

Kerbside dry mixed recycling collections have been temporarily suspended. This is due to a fire at the Waste Transfer Station facility in Bletchley. The dry mixed recycling we collect from the kerbside is taken there to be bulked and then transported on to a separate treatment facility.

As the Waste Transfer Station is now not available for us to use, it is disrupting our kerbside dry recycling collection service. Officers are working closely with the contractor to put alternative Waste Transfer arrangements in place as a matter of urgency to minimise the impact on residents.

Residents are being asked to put their dry recycling bin out for collection as usual because, as soon as we are able, collections will recommence. General waste, food waste and garden waste collections are continuing as normal.

For glass, residents can continue to use bottle banks.

At present, the household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) are operating as normal. However, if possible, please store bulky waste materials at home rather than bring them to the HWRCs during this period of disruption. We will keep our website updated and continue to share updates through our social media channels as soon as we know more.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We can update you directly, when collections restart, if you sign up for our email bulletins.
