Design Guide

Urban design

Urban design is the process of designing and shaping places so that they are both functional and visually attractive.

Whereas architecture focuses on individual buildings, urban design addresses the larger scale of:

  • groups of buildings
  • streets and public spaces
  • whole neighbourhoods
  • villages and towns

Masterplans, Development Briefs and / or Design Codes are required on larger sites to guide proposals for new development and have input from local communities and a variety of other stakeholders.
