Apply for transport on medical needs

In certain circumstances, we may consider providing travel assistance to a child who would not otherwise qualify.

Your child needs to live within the statutory walking distance and attend the catchment (read about changes coming regarding catchment) or nearest suitable qualifying school.

We might be able to help if:

• your child has a temporary medical problem – we may give travel assistance if your child is unable to walk to school due to a temporary medical condition
• you have a disability or medical condition – we may provide you with travel assistance if your child is primary school age and you are unable to accompany them on their walk to school due to a disability or medical condition

In both cases, you need to provide medical evidence and, if awarded, the travel assistance will be provided for a fixed period, with a review date set.

Pay for a bus pass based on medical needs

Please be aware that if a student has a qualifying medical need you may be able to apply for a disabled persons bus pass from our Public Transport Team. If you are eligible for such a pass, you will be expected to use it to travel between home and college on public transport where appropriate.
