Honoured transport arrangements

On 2 September 2025, our Executive committee approved a change to our HTST policy to remove ‘catchment’ as part of the eligibility criteria.

As part of the policy implementation plan, 2 agreements were also approved.

Existing transport arrangements

• a pupil who is in receipt of transport this academic year, up to July 2026 and where not attending their nearest school
• this transport arrangement will be honoured until the pupil leaves their current school (or up to year 11)
• sixth-form transport is exempt and not part of this agreement

Siblings of existing transport users

• where currently not attending the school of the older sibling, and a follow-on will mean they attend the school at the same time (an overlap)
• transport will be provided until they leave the school (or up to year 11)

Example 1 of siblings

Child A is an existing mainstream transport user that currently attends a catchment school in year 7 with a younger sibling (child B) that is attending a different school in year 5. Child B could be a follow-on to attend the same school as child A.

Child B would not be eligible for transport if the school was not their nearest school. However, an agreement is in place for transport to be honoured for younger siblings when attending the same provision of existing transport user dependant on child A still attending the current school (as there is an overlap). 

Example 2 of siblings

Child A is an existing mainstream transport user that currently attends a catchment school in year 10 with a younger sibling (child B) that is attending a different school in year 5. Child B would not be a follow-on to attend the same school as child A due to the age difference, i.e. child A would have left the school before child B starts.

Child B would not be eligible for transport if the school was not their nearest school and no agreements are in place for siblings with no overlap.
