We're preparing a new minerals and waste plan with Bedford Borough Council and Luton Borough Council.
The plan will guide how minerals and waste development is managed across Bedfordshire. It will explain:
- what development is needed
- where it should be located
- how it should be managed
- how planning applications will be assessed
It will replace:
- Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Luton Borough Councils Minerals and Waste Local Plan: Strategic Sites and Policies (adopted in January 2014)
- Bedfordshire and Luton Minerals and Waste Local Plan (adopted in January 2005)
The plan's policies will:
- identify enough land for future mineral extraction
- identify enough land to manage future waste
- support sustainable minerals and waste development
The plan will cover development needs up to 2050.
We're leading the review, with Bedford Borough Council and Luton Borough Council.
