Empty Homes Loan

Our Empty Homes Loan factsheet (PDF) explains the support available.

You may be able to borrow up to £15,000 if your property has been empty for at least 1 year.

You do not need to make monthly repayments. We will register a charge against the property with HM Land Registry.

The charge will remain in place for 10 or 30 years, depending on how much you borrow. You must repay the interest-free loan if you sell the property during this period.

Enhanced funding

You may be able to get more funding if you agree to rent the renovated property at an affordable rent to tenants we nominate.

These tenants will be homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Agreements usually last for 3, 5 or 10 years.

Support for property developers

We may be able to help if you have bought an empty residential property and plan to convert it into several homes.
