Free bus travel this August for children aged 5 to 15

Families across Central Bedfordshire can save money this summer thanks to free bus travel for children aged 5 to 15 on participating local bus services throughout August.

The offer is part of the government's Great British Summer Savings initiative and gives families a more affordable way to enjoy days out, visit friends and family, and explore everything Central Bedfordshire and beyond has to offer.

How the offer works

  • Children aged 5 to 15 travel free
  • Available from 1 to 31 August 2026
  • No registration or ticket application is required
  • Valid on participating local bus services in England

Whether you're heading to a park, library, leisure centre, town centre or enjoying a family day out, travelling by bus can help you save money and reduce the number of car journeys on our roads.

Keep saving after the summer

If your child lives in Central Bedfordshire and is aged over 5 and under 19, they could also benefit from our Young Person's (YP) Card. The card offers discounted bus travel all year round, with single journeys costing just £1, making it a great way to continue saving on travel to school, college, work and leisure activities. Find out if you're eligible and apply for a YP Card.
