Submitted sites consultation

The consultation on sites submitted for possible inclusion in the new Local Plan closed on 17 August 2026.

We invited residents, local businesses and organisations to comment on sites that have been put forward for possible inclusion in the new Local Plan.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views. We received over 30,000 responses. Your feedback and local knowledge will help inform the next stages of preparing the new Local Plan.

What are submitted sites?

Last year, landowners, developers and others were invited to put forward sites they thought had potential for future development.

Putting a site forward does not mean it will be included in the Local Plan or that any decision has been made about it. There is a detailed process we must go through to decide which sites might be suitable to take forward.

What happens next?

We received an exceptionally high level of responses to this consultation, so we are currently busy processing and reviewing the comments received. Whilst we won’t be published every individual response, we will prepare and publish a summary report in due course.

Your views will be considered alongside detailed evidence, national planning policy and environmental information before any decisions are made about which sites may be suitable to take forward.

There will be further opportunities to have your say as the new Local Plan progresses. The next opportunity will be to comment on the draft Regulation 23 plan, which will commence in November 2026 and will include:

  • Key priorities, vision, objectives and measurable outcomes
  • Growth strategy
  • Proposed local policies
  • Summary of evidence studies
