Council agrees for more locations across Dunstable to access its in-person services

Friday, 14 October 2022

The council’s Executive committee agreed on Tuesday (11 October) to continue to provide customers with the modern, convenient ways to access services from the council in the Dunstable area.

This will be provided across a variety of locations.

In recent years, people have begun to choose to access services in different ways, using phone, online or other digital methods.

The public services that were previously delivered from one of the council’s buildings, Watling House, will continue to be delivered online, by phone or by post or – when an in-person meeting is required - at a variety of locations across the Dunstable area, including the library/leisure centre and the upcoming Integrated Health and Care Hub, giving more choice of where to meet in the area.

Councillor Eugene Ghent, our Executive Member for Housing and Assets, explained:

The way we access services has changed hugely in recent years, in all areas of our lives - from banking to booking holidays. We are no different. So, now people can make applications, pay for things and access all sorts of help online. Other enquiries can be dealt with over the phone. For lots of us, it’s much more convenient and offers more choice. We want to reflect how customers want and need to access our services; there isn’t one size that fits all and sometimes in-person meetings are necessary, which is why we’ve made sure that there will be options available at a variety of locations. We can make best use of the resources in our area, while providing different ways for people to access services.

Now that Executive has agreed how these services will be delivered in the Dunstable area, we’ll look to deliver those changes for the public.
