Have your say on proposed changes to school admission arrangements in Central Bedfordshire
Wednesday, 22 October 2025
We've launched a public consultation on proposed changes to school admission arrangements at 3 schools from September 2027.
The consultation, which runs from 22 October to 3 December 2025, invites views from parents, carers, schools, governing bodies, trusts, neighbouring councils and the wider community.
The proposals cover:
- Shillington Lower School – reducing the number of reception places from 30 to 15 in line with pupil forecasts
- Edward Peake CofE VC School, Biggleswade – updating admissions criteria following the school’s change to a secondary school, with priority given to siblings and pupils from local feeder schools and removal of the catchment area
- St Andrew’s CofE VC Primary School, Biggleswade – changes to oversubscription criteria to align with other local primary schools, including removal of the catchment area
Councillor Steve Owen, our Executive Member for Children’s Services and Community Safety, said:
We want to make sure that every child in Central Bedfordshire has a fair chance of accessing their local school, and that our admissions policies reflect changes in pupil numbers and the school system.
These proposals have been shaped in partnership with the schools involved, and now we want to hear from parents, carers and the wider community. Your views are vital in helping us make the right decisions for children and families.

The final arrangements will be confirmed in February 2026.
