Are we heading in the right direction? That's the question we are asking, as it invites residents to have their say on transport plans shaping how people travel for years to come.
We have launched a consultation on our draft Local Transport Plan, setting out a long-term vision for an easier, safer and greener transport system that works for everyone.
The plan is aspirational, helping the Council secure funding and support wider change. It includes actions the Council can deliver directly, alongside others that will depend on securing additional funding.
A wide range of data, research, and feedback from residents, businesses and partners has informed the plan, alongside national and local policy.
The vision is for Central Bedfordshire to be: ‘a place where people have access to a sustainable and future proofed transport system that provides a variety of attractive and realistic travel choices'.
It is built around four key themes:
Helping people to live happier, healthier lives
- supporting businesses and communities to thrive and prosper
- making transport safer and more equitable for everyone
- preserving and enhancing Central Bedfordshire’s special natural and built environment.

The Council is keen to hear from residents, businesses and visitors - whether you travel by car, public transport, on foot, by bike, riding or wheeling. This is your opportunity to help shape a transport system that supports our communities, protects our environment and offers better travel choices.
We want to hear from as many people as possible. Transport affects everyone, and your feedback will help make sure we’re focusing on the right priorities for the future.
