Tenants learn about home safety and enjoy a free BBQ
Housing tenants from across Central Bedfordshire gathered at All Saints View on 6 August 2026 for a Tenant Safety Event, where they had the chance to learn more about the checks and services that help keep their homes safe.
Our contractors were on hand throughout the event to answer questions and offer advice on a range of important topics, including gas, electrical and fire safety, asbestos, damp and mould, legionella, lift safety and ongoing maintenance.
The event gave tenants the opportunity to have informal one-to-one conversations, raise concerns and find out about work being carried out in their homes and communities.
To thank tenants for attending and sharing their feedback, everyone was invited to enjoy a free BBQ, freshly made crêpes and a traditional pick and mix stand.
Events like this help us keep tenants informed and provide valuable opportunities to speak directly with the people who deliver our services.
Landlord Assurance Board update
The Landlord Assurance Board (LAB) continues to build upon its engagement with tenants
The Landlord Assurance Board (LAB) met in September at All Saints View to discuss housing services and make sure tenants' views continue to shape improvements.
The Board discussed:
- Reviewing complaints and what can be learned from tenant feedback.
- Discussing repairs, damp and mould, and the condition of council homes.
- Reviewing plans to improve the response to anti-social behaviour.
- Providing more information on repairs, re-let times and property standards.
- Discussing ways to improve communication with tenants and raise awareness of LAB.
The Board will continue to work with Housing Services to check performance, ask questions and help improve services for tenants.
The Board is growing in confidence and now has a full membership of both tenants and councillors.
Dermot McMorrow, Vice Chair of LAB
Come along to our next LAB meeting
The next LAB meeting will be at 10am at All Saints View on 23 November.
All tenants are welcome to attend and address the LAB, or observe the meeting.

We are making changes
Thank you for having your say
Tenant feedback is already helping us improve our services.
Making contractors letters clearer
Following feedback from tenants who had their roofs replaced, contractor letters are being made clearer so information is easier to find and understand.
Right to Buy Policy
Tenants who helped review our Right to Buy Policy asked for clearer information about the process, discounts, deductions, valuations and where to go for help.
Repairs and Maintenance Policy
Tenants helped us improve our Repairs and Maintenance Policy. Their feedback has led to clearer repair priorities, simpler information about reporting repairs and clearer information about responsibilities.
You Said, We Did
You said: Repair priorities were unclear
We did:
- Simplified the information about repair priority categories.
- Made it clearer how urgent repairs are identified and handled.
- Confirmed that individual circumstances and vulnerabilities are considered when prioritising repairs.
Impact: Tenants have a clearer understanding of how repair requests are assessed and when they can expect a response.
You said: It was unclear how to report a repair
We did:
- Updated the Reporting Repairs section to provide consistent information.
- Removed wording that could cause confusion.
- Reinforced the importance of reporting repairs as soon as a problem is identified.
Impact: Tenants can more easily report repairs using the correct route.
You said: Response times needed more explanation
We did:
- Explained the difference between attending a repair and completing a repair.
- Added information about situations where follow-up appointments may be needed.
Impact: Tenants have a better understanding of what to expect throughout the repair process.
You said: It was unclear who was responsible
We did:
- Added a new Roles and Responsibilities section.
- Clearly set out who is responsible for each stage of the service.
Impact: Tenants now know who is responsible for what.
You said: There was no information about contacting a tenant's representative
We did:
- Updated the Cyclical Maintenance Inside the Home section.
- Explained when a family member, representative or next of kin may be contacted.
Impact: Greater clarity about how access issues are managed.

Meet Carole Tilcock
A tenant with more than 80 years in the same home she was born in
Carole, aged 84 from Dunstable, has lived in the same council home all her life. Her parents became the property's first tenants in 1932.
Her story reflects almost a century of family life, community history and memories within one home.
Do you know a tenant with an amazing story?
We'd love to hear about other Central Bedfordshire Council tenants who have an interesting story or are making a positive difference where they live.
