We are celebrating the remarkable career of a headteacher as she retires after 20 years of dedicated service at Fairfield Park School.
Jenny Stone was appointed in 2006, taking on the role while the school was still in its earliest stages of development. When Fairfield Park School opened in September 2007, the lower school welcomed just 74 pupils and operated from a site that was still under construction.
Under Mrs Stone's leadership, the school has grown into a thriving learning community. It now supports almost 500 pupils across two sites and plays a central role in local life.
Mrs Stone has been instrumental in shaping the school's development, overseeing significant expansions to meet growing demand from local families. Her attention to detail and commitment to high standards ensured facilities and services developed alongside the community.
During her tenure, Fairfield Park School achieved an Outstanding Ofsted rating in 2012, reflecting the high standards of education and care delivered under her leadership. Mrs Stone has also supported education more widely across Central Bedfordshire. She served as a National Leader of Education, working with other schools to share expertise and drive improvement.
A passionate advocate for children's learning and wellbeing, she championed a creative, values-led curriculum while maintaining a strong focus on staff development and collaboration. Her leadership helped create a school environment where pupils, staff and families feel supported and inspired.
To mark her retirement, our Director of Children's Services, Amana Gordon, visited Fairfield Park School with our Executive Member for Children and Families, Councillor Gareth Mackey, and Deputy Executive Member, Councillor Liz Childs. They presented Mrs Stone with flowers and thanked her for her outstanding contribution.

Visiting the school to meet with Jenny and her staff, what came across is a passion for focusing on children, inclusion and belonging.
Everything she has built reflects a deep commitment to children’s learning, wellbeing and the opportunities they have as young residents in our community.
What stands out is the consistency of that approach and strong values that are rooted in the community and a genuine understanding of what matters to the children and families.
The schools she leaves behind reflect that and are places where children can grow, achieve and feel they belong.
Jenny has also made a difference in the wider community, supporting others, developing staff and those contributions should not go unnoticed.
I would like to thank Jenny for everything she has given to the children, families and colleagues she’s worked with. She leaves a lasting legacy.
