Your job application

Once you have found a job you're interested in, you can make an online application by following the directions on that page.

We use an online application that accepts CVs as part of the process. This ensures all applicants are treated equally. If you consider yourself to have a disability, please complete the Guaranteed Interview Scheme section of the application.

If you have a disability which affects your ability to complete our online application, please contact recruitment@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk so we can support you by looking at alternative application methods.

If you require assistance to apply for our roles, help with writing your CV, interview techniques or careers advice please contact our team of careers advisors at ncs@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk. Our service is confidential, impartial and free for all.

CV format

For our system to most effectively read your CV, we recommend using our template:

Shortlisting

If you are shortlisted for interview, we will notify you by email via our online recruitment system. Receipt of emails from our system will often be re-directed to your spam folder so please do check there if nothing is received to your inbox.

Certain firewalls or security settings may reject the automated email altogether so do contact us if don’t receive anything when expected.

Interviews

If you know you may have access needs, or require reasonable adjustments to attend an interview with us, please don’t hesitate to contact the recruitment lead for the role (details on the advert) to discuss your requirements or email recruitment@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk.

After the interview, we will be in touch to confirm the outcome. You can contact the hiring manager for any feedback.

When offered a position, all relevant pre-employment clearances for the role will commence. This will include, but is not limited to, a DBS check if applicable, a pre-employment health assessment, proof of right to work and references. Once they're complete, you'll be contacted to agree a start date and your formal contract of employment will follow.

Criminal records

Posts working with children, vulnerable adults and some other positions are subject to the disclosure of criminal records. The job advert will indicate whether or not a post is subject to a DBS check. An online DBS application form will be forwarded to you to complete if required.

Asylum and immigration

We have a legal obligation to ensure that all prospective employees are eligible to live and work in the UK. We will request evidence at interview and / or offer stage.
