Dunstable Leisure Centre and library redevelopment

About the new Dunstable Centre

The Dunstable Centre replaced the old leisure centre and library in the town with state-of-the-art facilities. By bringing a variety of services together under one roof, this fantastic centre reduced running costs, while providing more flexible services.

The facilities include a six-lane, 25-metre main pool used for public swimming, aqua classes and timetabled activities, as well as a 12.5-metre learning pool.

But the building is so much more than a leisure centre and library. The café, flexible space to hire and Citizen’s Advice service, alongside a location in the heart of town, means that the building is a true community hub.

The centre has a 100-station gym and offers 67 fitness classes each week, alongside two squash courts, a large sports hall, multi-purpose fitness studios and much more.

The Dunstable Centre has a bigger and fully accessible library which is a large, bright and airy open-plan space. The space flows seamlessly from the main foyer and is zoned for different activities including space to relax, read or study, a children’s zone and new facilities for teenagers. The library also offers access to computers and iPads, with free Wi-Fi.

The relocation was made possible through £20.1 million of funding.
