The council also has a separate plan to invest £93.8 million next year in capital projects; these tend to be building and infrastructure initiatives rather than services and include:
- £70 million on maintaining our roads, including streetlights and bridges as well as investing in new roads (e.g. A421 and M1-A6) and new school places
- £10 million on improvements to our area, including building new integrated health and care hubs in Dunstable and Biggleswade and improving broadband
- £9 million on projects that enable the council to deliver more effective services, for example improvements in our IT systems, replacing old fleet vehicles and replacing care homes with modern facilities
- £4 million on schemes that will generate income, such as a new crematorium near Flitwick
