Meeting the budget challenge
Consultation closed: 5pm on Tuesday 29 January, 2019
Just like a household or business, we have to look at our income and outgoings when we set our budget.
The council has a strong track record of saving money by changing the way we work. And, given our budget challenge, we need to continue to find ways to deliver more for less.
Taking into account the pressures we can anticipate, as well as some of the uncertainties about the future, the council is being prudent and seeking to make more efficiencies to help limit any impact on services or Council Tax.
Our ambition is to deliver good value for money for council taxpayers whilst both protecting vital frontline services and investing more in the services we know are important to residents. To achieve this, we are increasing Council Tax by 1% from April 2019. This would be an extra 29p per week for an average (Band D) household.
