Domestic abuse

Our domestic abuse strategy

Anyone can be a victim of domestic abuse, regardless of age, ability, race, culture, gender identity or sexual orientation. Breaking the cycle of domestic abuse is really important to us.

The new Domestic Abuse Act 2021 places a duty on us to work in partnership to provide services and support for victims, survivors, and pursue perpetrators. It has focusses on providing safe accommodation to achieve a sustainable long-term reduction in the frequency of abuse, and ensure future generations aren’t impacted by abuse.

We are pleased to share with you our Domestic Abuse Strategy for 2022 to 2025. At its core, the strategy recognises that no single organisation can deal with the impact of domestic abuse alone, or prevent its occurrence in isolation. It also outlines how we will work with partners to meet our duty to provide safe accommodation and support in Central Bedfordshire for victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

To achieve our specific goals over the next three years, it's essential that we ensure resources are used effectively, including evidence-based interventions over and above our business-as-usual activities.
