Short Breaks statement: Have your say

Caring for a child or young person with a disability or health condition can be highly rewarding, but is also at times demanding on a family.

‘Short Breaks’ provides an opportunity for parents and carers to take a break from their caring responsibilities and recharge their batteries, while giving children and young people who have disabilities an opportunity to spend time away from their primary carers and take part in new activities.

We asked what you think about our Short Breaks statement. The statement is the document that outlines what Short Breaks are, and how families in Central Bedfordshire can access these services. It applies to disabled children and young people from birth to 18 years old who live in Central Bedfordshire, and their families.

We want to make sure it’s easy to read and understand, but that it also contains all the necessary information (there are also some pieces of information that have to be included, by law).

We may make future minor amendments to the Short Breaks statement to keep information on different services up-to-date – for example, new contact details or information about new providers.

And it’s important to note that any changes to our Short Breaks statement don’t reflect a change in policy; the document simply outlines our current services.
