Results of our SEND capital funding consultation
The Department for Education (DfE) has allocated £1.6 million of capital funding to us, as part of £215 million made available across the country. This is for investing in and improving facilities for children and young people with special education needs and disabilities (SEND). This funding will be made in three stages over three years, with around £500,000 available to us in the first year. We have consulted with the local community including parents/carers, young people, education providers and other groups to complete a short plan showing how we plan to invest the funding over the next three years. Our proposals for the first year focus on the most pressing needs - with the first round of funding invested in each of Central Bedfordshire’s four special schools. The special provision capital plan will be updated to include any decisions and or consultation that will affect any outcomes of the Special Provision Capital Funding Short Plan.
