About Central Bedfordshire

Central Bedfordshire is a safe and green community with low unemployment and higher than average income. People in Central Bedfordshire also tend to be healthier than people across the UK.

Central Bedfordshire is an affluent area but, like most places, there are some more deprived places such as Dunstable, Houghton Regis and Flitwick.

The area is growing fast. New homes are being built, and more people are moving in. Based on information from 2022, about 301,000 people live here. That number is expected to grow by over 20% by 2031.

The number of older people is also rising. Around 18 out of every 100 people are aged 65 or older. That number has gone up by 29% in the last 10 years. It is expected to grow by another 40% by 2035.

As people live longer, more need care and support. This can mean more people need  local services. It's becoming harder to make sure the right help is ready at the right time.

We have big plans for the future. Our goal is to build strong, friendly communities and keep the area beautiful.
