HM Lord-Lieutenant awarded the Venerable Order of St John of Jerusalem
HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis CStJ, was honoured to be invested as Commander of the Venerable Order of St John of Jerusalem on 14 March 2019 for services to humanity.
The Order of St John is a Royal Order of Chivalry first constituted as such by Royal Charter from Queen Victoria in 1888. Currently Queen Elizabeth II is the Sovereign Head of The Order of St John, followed by the Grand Prior, Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester.
The Lord-Lieutenant said "I am so privileged to work with thousands of volunteers in Bedfordshire and beyond. All of them striving to make a kinder and more compassionate world."
